I am writing this blog post from my iPhone using the native wordpress application. It seems pretty neat but doesn’t allow me to attach or post pictures yet. (edit: actually it does! It’s on another tab in the app) Needness to say a pretty good first version!

Botanical Gardens

Gabe and I joined my good friends Charles and Tammy with their 2 and a half year old daughter Lizzy over the 4th of July weekend to visit the Botanical Gardens north of the city. It’s absolutely beautiful there and even after 2.5 hours, I don’t think we covered half of the park. They have this train exhibit where miniature trains travel through model cities. The cities are modeled off of famous places around the US. I honestly think the trains were my favorite part of the whole trip :)

Here are a couple photos from the trip (view full album)

Chicago Pride Parade 2008

The Chicago Pride parade was great this year even with the 30 minute pause half way through and the on and off again rain showers toward the end. Gabe and I camped out for about an hour before the parade started which really proved to be futile since people just showed up 5 minutes before the parade and then walked right in front of us. Oh well. We were still on the front lines and got to see everything up close. The whole parade lasted about 3.5 hours and there were sooo many people. Last year they said there were 450,000 people and I’d say we came pretty close to that this year as well. See you all again next year!!

Happy Pride

It’s appropriate that we got a beautiful rainbow over the neighborhood for Pride. I took these shots last weekend.

Good Weather = Street Fairs

When the weather finally becomes warm in Chicago, the city becomes very busy where it’s easy to find street fairs and farmer’s markets on every corner. Here are a couple shots from two different events: Chicago Green City Market and the Sheffield Music Festival
